Abstract

Pharmacotherapeutics is a branch of pharmacology that focuses on the use of medications to treat diseases and promote health. It encompasses the study of how drugs interact with the body to produce therapeutic effects, as well as the mechanisms underlying their actions and potential side effects.

The goal of pharmacotherapeutics is to achieve optimal therapeutic outcomes while minimizing adverse effects and ensuring patient safety. This calls for knowledge of the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of drugs-what the drug does to the body and how the body reacts to it, as well as factors such as drug-drug interactions, patient characteristics, and individual response variability. Another important part of Pharmacotherapeutics is selection of the most appropriate drug, dosage and duration of treatment taking into account the specific features of a patient.
